Welcoming Sagittarius Season: Journaling Session + Prompts

Hi,

How are you doing?

Today we’re doing a small journaling session to welcome Sagittarius season. Or if you’re reading this outside of Sagittarius season, this is also a good journaling session to connect with the sign of Sagittarius.

That’s always something nice to do if you’re a Sagittarius sun, rising, moon, or simply if you’re curious about the sign of Sagittarius in your birth chart.

Sagittarius season is from 22nd of November to the 21st of December. It’s the last sign of fall, so Sagittarius is cozy season ♪

Before starting the journaling session, let’s go through a quick intro on Sagittarius.

// An Intro to Sagittarius //

Sagittarius is a fire sign, so it’s about affirming and creating your sense of self. It’s about your identity.

It’s a mutable sign so it’s flexible, open and it enjoys making things more complex and nuanced.

And it’s ruled by Jupiter, a planet that symbolizes faith, growth and stability.

Sagittarius is a lovely sign. Not to say that other signs aren’t lovely too, ho ho ho.

If you’d like to learn more about Sagittarius, you can check out my post on that sign right here: click.

Now, let’s move on to the journaling part.

// Journaling Session to Welcome Sagittarius Season: Journaling Prompts //

Sagittarius strengthens their sense of identity by experiencing and learning more about the world.

So this season is ideal to grow our sense of who we are through discovery.

(1.) What are 4 things you’d enjoy doing or learning about and that would allow you to expand your own identity?

I’m using the number 4 because it’s traditionally the number of Jupiter, so it’s for good luck or something like that, haha. But 4 is actually a lot.

It doesn’t have to be deeply philosophical or anything, Sagittarius is a very easy-going, just go after your whims sign.

For me it’s

1. learning some sign-language

2. studying more seriously Japanese

3. creating some simple songs on my guitar

4. brushing up my geography knowledge

For me, all those activities are tied to my sense of identity, and I know that by exploring them I'll feel more fresh and confident in who I am.

Fresh is a strange way to put it, but with Sagittarius there's this sense of constant renewal, of not getting stuc in the same old identity patterns.

All this sounds like a lot and honestly if I do a bit of each, that will already be something.

// Sagittarius as the big traveler //

Speaking of geography, Sagittarius is, of course, the sign the most associated to long journeys since Jupiter, its ruling planet, desires to understand the wider world around it.

This season you can take the time to daydream about places you’d love to visit one day.

Sagittarius is super optimistic, so don’ worry about the logistics and the money, but just let your mind wonder.

Check out some documentaries or guide books to some countries you’ve never thought of going to. Or look at less popular or less known-place. Like, if you’re coming to France, you don’t have to stay in Paris.

Just take some time to explore and expend your usual choices.

(2.) What are 4 places you’d absolutely love to travel to in your life?

For me it’s:

1. the south of Chili, where you can see penguins! Well, if I went all the way to Chili, I’d also visit the rest of the country.

2. the long walk in Japan from Kyoto to Tokyo. It’s called Matasendo and it looks amazing.

3. a road trip through Scandinavia.

4. Italy, everywhere in Italy. I live in France, but I’ve actually only been there once I was a kid and I don't remember much.

// Sagittarius and Books //

Now let’s talk about books, because a journaling session cannot be complete without a few lines about books.

For Sagittarius season, as far as book recommendations go, travel books and novels where people go on unusual adventures are an obvious choice.

Foreign literature from a country you’ve never read from before is also perfect for Sagittarius season.

Also, as Jupiter is the planet of faith and spirituality, any religious or spiritual books, or even simply books where the author questions our place in the universe, or why we’re here, is a good fit.

So:

- travel books

- tales of adventures and discoveries

- foreign literature

- spiritual books or books that question our place and role in the world

(3.) Are there any books you’d like to read for Sagittarius season and that falls into those categories?

For me, I’d like to read…

1. An Orchestra of Minorities by Chigozie Obioma

I picked it at my local library because the cover was super pretty :p but it's actually a pretty famous book. Obioma is a Nigerian writer currently living in the United-States. I've never read Nigerian literature.

2. The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin

A classic of Chinese science-fiction. I don't usually read science-fiction and I've seldom read Chinese literature. It seems pretty dark, and I must admit I'm more into fluffy literature (hey, I'm a Cancer rising after all XD), so I don't know how it'll go.

3. Indo-China: a forgotten colonial history by Gerard Gilles Epain.

Well, the title says it all. It's a French book and I don't think it's been translated. Indo-China, now modern Laos, Cambodia and pars of Vietnam, was a big part of France’s colonial history. Yet we don’t learn about it at all in school… an unsurprising shame. I don’t know if I’ll enjoy the author’s take on history, but I’ll give it a try.

- My Islam, my Freedom by Kanina Bahloul. Bahloul is the first woman imam in France. I don’t know much about Islam, so this is my religious pick for Sagittarius season. Sorry I'm picking books from my local library and I don't think that this one has been translated in another language than French either.

// What are your planning to read this season? Any recommendations? : )

Daily or Regular Journaling Idea for Sagittarius Season

Now for any regular journaling ideas, Sagittarius season goes well with gratitude lists.

(4.) What are 4 things that you’re grateful for?

(5.) And what are 4 things that you’re looking forward to?

Since Sagittarius is a very forward-looking sign, it enjoys daydreaming and planning about the good stuff to come. Sagittarius season is the right time to cultivate your sense of optimism in the world and in yourself.

Catch any repetitive negative thought you’re having and hand it out to Jupiter in exchange for a sweeter one.

I'm looking forward to:

- cozy long evenings with candles and a good novel.

- hot chocolate and mulled wine.

- long walks in the countryside.

- choosing Christmas gifts. I love picking gifts, and yes I'm the kind of person who has already bought your gift a month in advance lol.

Alright, I hope you had fun with the journaling session!

Tell my in the comments what you’re planning to learn and explore, what are the places you dream of going to and books you’d love to get to read this Sagittarius season.

I’ve made a small journaling guide for Sagittarius season that summarizes this post and includes all the prompts if you’d like to write directly on it.

Take your time journaling, listen to some chill music, like some lofi, and enjoy a nice warm drink ♪

I hope you all have a lovely Sagittarius season. Bye!
